The Sunfish
This is a picture of the HUGE sunfish at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I couldn't get a picture of it with my camera, so I didn't get to show how crazy looking it actually was in my last post. When it swam towards you from the back of the dark tank, it looked like a huge mass or a whale. Then when it turned sideways, it had no tail. It just looked like a big square blob - and a scary one at that.

That is one funky fish!
It's way bigger than a human too. It was bigger than any of the tuna and the hammerhead and white sharks.
and THAT is why I don't swim in any natural water other than sugar creek. :) at least I don't *think* there's one like that in sugar creek.....**shudder**

That is a freaky looking thing. Where is his mouth? Is that a statue of one? Look at his little fins! If I were another fish, I would point and laugh at this one. And then he'd eat me.

Ashly - quit freaking me out! It's going to be hot at Sugar Creek this summer, and I don't want to be afraid to get in the water.
I saw a video of predator and prey in science this morning. It said the sundfish hides in the sand floor and viciously destroys any fish that swims by. (MUAHAHAHAA)
Not this fish. It supposedly only eats plankton.
And it's way to big to hide in the sand.
Wonder what it'll tast like grilled?
